HYDROSANA INSTALLATION
Note: Residential and commercial applications with a hot
water recirculation system (instant hot) require an additional conditioner on the recirculation line.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
APPLICABLE TO ALL INSTALLATIONS
1) Connect the battery pak's two leads (black
to ground, red to positive) to each one of the nuts on the exterior housing of the conditioner while additionally
connecting the wire between the earthed (4'-6') grounding rod to the nut on the outlet side of the exterior housing
of the water conditioner.
This means one wire from the battery pack will be connected the inlet-side nut and the two other wires (both from
the outlet side of battery pack and from the grounding rod) will need to be connected to the same nut on the outlet-side
of the exterior of the water conditioner. Indicated on the #3 Univeral Installation below.
When the installation is complete. The green LED light will be lit as long as the two D cell batteries inside the
pack are good. The LED will go out when the batteries need replacing.
NOTE: Many plumbers will want to connect a
wire to anything already grounded. Don't do that. Use a seperate grounding rod.
The reason we don't ground to the cold water pipe is because
of possible ground current
The electrical system in the house is grounded to the cold water pipe.
This is to "drain" off any current from faulty household appliances and also static electricity buildup.
This creates "ground current". It often isn't confined to your house.
Your pipes connect to the main which connects to all your neighbors.
If any of them have a faulty appliance or excessive static, it can show up at your house.
If you notice the oxydation (discoloration) of your cold water pipe, that can also prevent a good contact with
the ground.
The separate grounding rod guarantees a good ground without stray currents.
UNIVERSAL - BATTERY PAK
Connect the Battery Pak or Power Regulator
as shown.
When installed the green L.E.D. light will appear.

UNIVERSAL - POWER REGULATOR
Connect the Battery Pak or Power Regulator
as shown.
When installed the green L.E.D. light will appear.
This is used mostly on commercial application.

WATER METER
Install your HydroSana unit into the main
line after the water meter. Fit unions on either side to allow access for cleaning. Do not bury Conditioner in
the soil.

PUMPS
Fit your HydroSana Conditioner into the main
line, before any tee junctions. The HydroSana Conditioner should remain full of water at all times. If water drains
from pump when not in use a non-return valve should be fitted before the conditioner.

SWIMMING POOLS
Fit your SWP40S into the return line
after the filter with the rubber connectors supplied.

BOILERS
In a recirculating system, one unit should
be fitted into the feed line to the boiler after the condenser pump, where all the water passes through each cycle,
and one unit should be fitted into the cold water make-up line.

MAINTENANCE
CLEANING YOUR HydroSana CONDITIONER
Your HydroSana Conditioner has been designed
for life; however, it must be maintainted.
Periodic cleaning is required and is dependent on your water conditions and usage. Use the following guide:
| Domestic City Supply |
1-2 years |
| Farm Use and Irrigation |
3-12 months |
| Swimming Pools |
1-2 years |
| Industrial - Cooling Towers |
3 months |
| MKII Range |

CLEANING PROCEDURE
1. Remove conditioner from pipeline
2. On threaded units, unscrew end nut.
On SWP40S and flanged models, unscrew stainless
steel
nut and bolt.
3. Remove the catalytic inner core.
Smaller units can be cleaned by:
a) Soaking in a mild descaling liquid or
vinegar for
10-20 minutes and rinse thouroughly
b) A wire brush may be required if core
still
appears dirty. DO NOT USE ACID
Larger units can be cleaned by:
c) Sand blasting - DO NOT use steel shot
d) High-pressure water blasting - provided
it cleans
 the conditioner
e) Only the MKII Range can be
cleaned with
 hydrochloric acid. Rinse thouroughly.
After cleaning, the catalytic core will return to its original color. Reassemble making sure to replace all the
parts. Threaded stainless units have O ring seals.
On the SWP40S and all flanged models 1/2" Teflon thread tape wound between the stainless steel nut and casing
is sufficient for a good seal.
Reconnect wires to the Battery Pak or power supply.
CHECK LIST
The performance of your HydroSana Conditioner
can be restricted by:
• Oversizing your conditioner
• Insufficient flowrate
• The degree of cleanliness of the catalytic inner core
and casing
• Dirty or loose connections to the Battery Pak
• Dead batteries in Battery Pak
• Badly connected wire terminals
POINTS TO REMEMBER
• Cover the unit in freezing conditions
• Inspect wire connections for oxidization every six months
on external installations and every 12
months for
indoor installations.
