HOW THE HYDROSANA WATER CONDITIONER WORKS
By applying a simple, yet natural water treatment process, the Hydrosana Water Conditioner is able to help neutralize
the adverse effects of many of the undesirable substances in your water supply. The Hydrosana Water Conditioner
is an in-line catalytic water treatment system. It operates by a combination of the following.
1. Turbulence of the water through a specially designed catalytic chamber.
2. By the creation of a small electrical field around the chamber casing.
This combination causes a separation of the material particles in the water, which changes their behavior. Particles,
which were previously attracted to each other, now repel and separate into smaller individual particles. This allows
the “separated” mineral particles and salts to flow through the
system with minimal interference.
3. A pressure drop releases corrosive gases during conditioning. These gasses move through the water
as harmless bubbles. They are expelled into the atmosphere when water leaves the tap. To put it simply, the Hydrosana
Conditioner eliminates the cohesion that exists between the mineral particles in the water. This is clearly seen
in the before and after photos.

3. WHAT TYPE OF WATER WILL IT WORK ON?
HydroSana works effectively on water with both high or low
mineral concentrations. Especially lime, soda, calcium
carbonate and saline waters. HydroSana improves water from
town supplies, wells, springs, creeks, and rivers. With
tens of thousands of units now installed, we have experienced
good results in all areas. To assist you, some of these results
are outlined in our “Comments From HydroSana Customers”
brochure.

4. WILL HydroSana HELP REMOVE CHLORINE TASTE
FROM OUR WATER SUPPLY?
Yes. Laboratory tests confirm, and you can look forward to a
reduction of 70% in the concentration of residual chlorine in
HydroSana conditioned water.
This decrease is due to the freeing of the chlorine artificially
trapped between the mineral particles of the water before being
conditioned. It escapes into the atmosphere in gaseous form as
water leaves your tap.
With a HydroSana system fitted you get the benefits of
chlorination, but without the taste.

5. HOW DOES A HydroSana SYSTEM GIVE ME CLEARER
WATER?
Turbidity is caused by microscopic suspended particles in your
water supply. Laboratory tests confirm a decrease of 20% in
the turbidity of the conditioned water.
Your HydroSana Conditioner causes the mineral particles to
repel each other, separate and become smaller. Because there
is less light refraction from the smaller particles your water
becomes clearer. This is especially evident in swimming pools.
The microscope photos effectively show this.

6. WILL IT GIVE ME CLEANER SOFTER CLOTHES?
Yes. Conditioned water contains smaller particles, which pass
more readily through the clothes being washed. The water
tends to be “wetter”, and penetrates better to carry away dirt
and grease.
In unconditioned water larger particles and other substances
can become trapped in detergent and in the fibers of the
clothes you are washing, causing staining.

7. HOW WILL HydroSana AFFECT NURSERIES, VINEYARDS, MARKET GARDENS, CROPS & LAWNS?
You will have greener healthier more robust growth with less
water. You can also look forward to increased yields, which
means more profitability because:
a) The better “wetting action” of conditioned water improves soil
texture by surrounding individual soil particles with tiny droplets
of conditioned water.
Not only does your soil become more permeable but also it is
able to retain its moisture content for longer periods because of deeper penetration.
b) By improving the permeability, salts which previously
accumulated around the root system and in the soil are leached
away and do not reform.
Stressing to the plant is relieved and improved growth is
noticed in weeks - sometimes days.
c) Mineral particles and salts in conditioned water no longer
adhere to the leaves to the same degree. What’s more, leaf
burn is also reduced considerably.
NOTE: Laboratory LEAF ANALYSIS testing on stone fruit
trees between Conditioned and Unconditioned water,
confirmed a massive 66% reduction of Sodium and a
52% reduction of Chloride.

8. WHAT LEVEL OF SALINITY CAN BE TREATED FOR
IRRIGATION?
Our records confirm the successful flood irrigation of an area
with bore water (shallow, underground water), which has the following analysis:
pH 6.9
Conductivity 11100 uS/cm
Chloride 3400 mg/L
Sodium 1640 mg/L
Total Hardness 1986 mg/L
Sodium Chloride 5600 mg/L
NOTE: This salinity level is about four times the tolerance for
this area. Although the soil has good drainage, the saline
water had almost destroyed the crop before the HydroSana Conditioner was installed. |

12. HOW DOES HydroSana AFFECT CALCIUM CARBONATE (CaCO3)?
Calcium Carbonate appears in predominately two forms,
Calcite (CaCO3) and Aragonite (CaCO3). They have the same
chemical composition but have different crystalline structures.
Calcite precipitates to form a hard to remove whitish scale.
Aragonite is much softer and is more easily removed.
Testing confirmed that the crystalline structure of
Calcium Carbonate in its Calcite form was changed to
Aragonite when the HydroSana Conditioner was used, hence its
easy removal.

13. CAN YOU HELP MY MANGANESE OR IRON PROBLEM?
We have found that with high concentrations of manganese
above 0.5mg/l and iron above 1.0mg/l, the HydroSana
conditioner requires more frequent cleaning.
Also, with iron and manganese problems - the conditioner must
be down sized.

14. HOW DOES HydroSana REMOVE RUST AND SCALE FROM OUR PLUMBING SYSTEM?
In conditioned water the mineral particles repel and lose their
attraction for each other and the surfaces of piping and other
equipment.
Being a solvent, the water now slowly etches, loosens and
dissolves the existing scale and rust from the system. Once
clean your system will stay clean!
15. WHAT HAPPENS TO THE PIPES AND EQUIPMENT
AFTER SCALE IS REMOVED?
The HydroSana Conditioner causes a natural protective
carbonate film to form inside the equipment and piping, which
will not grow or increase in time. This self-healing greyish film
is of negligible thickness and not only protects the system
against scale and corrosion, but will not impede water or heat
flow.
In old corroded systems it is possible for scale to seal a leak.
So removing the scale may cause the pipe to leak. (In this case
the pipe should be replaced.) Nothing further will happen -
except that you will have clean pipes!

16. HOW LONG WILL A HydroSana CONDITIONER LAST AND DO I HAVE TO REPLACE ANYTHING?
Provided it is installed properly, the batteries are changed, and it is cleaned at least every two yers, your HydroSana
Conditioner will last you a lifetime. It has no complex moving parts to wear out so you’ll enjoy big savings for
years to come.
The conditioner is made from heavy-duty stainless steel and
our own special metal, which are extremely resistant to
corrosion. Under normal circumstances they do not require
replacing.

17. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN CONDITIONED WATER
IS HELD IN STORAGE TANKS?
HydroSana treated water stays in its conditioned state.
However, it may be necessary to periodically drain the lower region of the tank in order to expel any high concentration
of dissolved solids that settle there, which otherwise may “disguise” the conditioned effect.
18. WHAT WILL IT DO FOR MY ALGAE PROBLEM?
The Hydrosana Conditioner, by virtually eliminating the biofilm,
denies the algae its food source. This occurs because of the
“conditioning” or mineral separation process. With nothing to
feed on the algae is either greatly reduced or completely
eliminated.

19. IS THERE ANY FLOW RESTRICTION?
Providing that you properly used our flow rate chart there is
minimal restriction. Flow rate charts are available for all sizes. Most of the time, a HS15 is recommended for
household use.
There's a lot to gain from a little pressure drop. It releases potentially harmful gasses from your water.

20. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN HydroSana IS FITTED BEFORE
A REVERSE OSMOSIS OR CARBON FILTER?
The HydroSana conditioner neutralizes the negative influence of
mineral particles, which otherwise tend to hinder the performance of filters, and reduce the working life of reverse
osmosis
membranes.
Installing a HydroSana unit before the carbon or reverse
osmosis filter, keeps them cleaner and greatly improves their
efficiency. Longevity of the membranes and filter cartridges is
extended by several times.

21. WHERE DO I INSTALL THE HydroSana CONDITIONER?
HydroSana is best fitted into the main line after the water meter
or pump and before any tee junctions or holding tanks. This allows
the whole system to benefit. HydroSana will operate at any
angle, above or below the ground.
When fitted below ground it must be installed in a suitable size
box or pit, which allows access to the battery pak and unions for cleaning. On larger installations where it is
impractical to install a HydroSana Conditioner after the water meter, several smaller HydroSana Conditioners may
be fitted on branch lines within the property.
Important: When watering or irrigating from a short discharge
pipe it is extremely important to prevent air from entering the
conditioner. The short pipe can cause cavitation which will result in an oxide forming on the catalyst core, impairing
performance.
If cavitation occurs, reduce the outlet slightly to obtain a “full
pipe” of water and so eliminate this problem.
NOTE: Do not install or test the conditioner at the tail end of a
pipeline.

22. WHAT SIZE DO I USE?
Establish the maximum flow rate of your pump or supply at the
DELIVERY OR DISCHARGE POINT and order according to
our flow rate table. Remember DO NOT OVERSIZE. |
